Generally, parking air conditioner is just used for in hot summer when truck is turn off the enginer, but some country in winter is very cold, and want to use its heating system when truck is parking, so the first solution that we can find out is it possible if we directly add some heating PTC device in the parking air conditioner? we know PTC heater also called parking heater with 12V or 24V type, and can heating the cbain when vehicle is parking.

Is it Possible to add 12V or 24V PTC Heater in Parking Truck Air Conditioner?

12V truck air conditioner add heating PTC the effect is not very obvious, 24V air conditioner add heating PTC is okay. ( The following data are based on V-Cool 26 this rooftop electric truck air conditioner as an example)

12V parking air-condition if add PTC, use heater mode, one evaporator blower need to work, the current is almost 80W / 12V almost 7A, if 400W PTC the current is almost 400W/12A almost 34A, total current is about 42A

if 400W PTC, what is your ambient temperature? If the winter temperature is around 0 degrees in your market, even in relatively small truck cab space, the heating temperature is not easy to rise, by the way, in China market, we have basically never installed PTC for 12V parking air conditioners. Because of the big current and less 12V truck ( generally more than 99% truck is 24V ), so the experience is not very sufficient.

if 600W, 600W/12A almost 50A, + blower current 7A, total current is about 58A, still is veryyyy high

If 12v air conditioner add 600W heating PTC, the current is about 50A + 10A （one evaporator blower and other currents）≤ almost 60A current, the current is verrryyyy high, so our engineer does not recommend adding PTC heating device to 12V air conditioner

if 24V truck air conditioner add 600W heating PTC, the current is about 25A + 10A (one evaporator blower and other currents）≤ almost 35A current 

if 24V battery powered truck air conditioner add 800W heating PTC, the current is about 33A + 10A （one evaporator blower and other current）≤ almost 45A current
